Turntable Belt Size Information

Turntable Belt Size Information

There are really just two main sources for turntable belts. PRB brand belts, which we sell, are made in the USA and are the best quality belts available. The other source for belts is Taiwan. Any vendor that does not sell PRB brand belts is buying their stock from Taiwan (or a supplier that does). Belt model numbers that start with FM, FBM, etc are all made in Taiwan. Suppliers sell these belts because they are cheaper and there is a larger profit margin. As with most things, you get the quality you pay for. PRB brand belts start with FRX, FRM, FRW, FR, SCX, SCY, etc. Almost all turntables use belts that have lengths of 19.6", 20.7", 21.4", 22.4, 23.6", 25.0", and 35.1". There are a few assorted turntables that use a couple of other sizes. BUT....there is NO turntable ever made that uses a 23.2", 24.75" or 25.75" belt. You will find vendors selling these belts and telling you your unit takes one of these belts. These are odd sizes made by the vendors in Taiwan and sold by turntable belt sites because they are cheaper for them to purchase than high quality belts sold by PRB. Your turntable does NOT use one of these sizes. NO TURNTABLE was ever sold that did. Yes they may work ok but they are not the size specified by the turntable manuafacturer. There is one web site that will tell you that a few of the Technics turntables use one of two sizes. They will even sell you both sizes and let you return the one that does't work. The reason is that they are selling the 23.2" belt instead of the correct belt and some people realize it is not quite right. So they send you two belts and let you decide. There are NOT 2 versions of the turntable as they would lead you to believe. If you purchase the correct size PRB belt, it will always fit properly the first time.
